Vineyard II, 2017
Emotional Intelligence for the Christian
In 1995, Daniel Goleman published Emotional Intelligence which proposes that the effectiveness of persons to understand and respond to their emotions is just as valid a predictor for future success as traditional measures of intelligence. Based on Goleman’s theory of Emotional Intelligence (EQ), M. Blaine Smith’s book Emotional Intelligence for the Christian examines how the theory can be applied to the Christian lifestyle. Smith attempts to address how EQ radically affects happiness, health, success and effectiveness for Christ.

Our first Vineyard of 2017 will be a viewing of Franco Zef-firelli’s classic film “Jesus of Nazareth.” It will be presented in its entirety beginning Sunday, March 5 (1st Sunday in Lent) and continue through April 9 (Palm Sunday). Each session will start at 6:30 and conclude by 8, allowing the class an hour of viewing and a half-hour of pre/post dis-cussion. This vineyard will be held at the home of Pastor Larry and Vale. Enrollment is limited to twelve due to limited seating. Following is a brief summary of this cinematic classic:
Beginning before the nativity and extending through the crucifixion and resurrection, JESUS OF NAZARETH brings to life all the majesty and sweeping drama of the life of Jesus (portrayed by Robert Powell) as told in the gospels. A star-studded international cast, featuring Michael York, Sir Laurence Olivier, James Earl Jones, Anne Bancroft, Olivia Hussey, Rod Steiger, and Anthony Quinn, adds depth and humanity to the roles of the saints, sinners, and ordinary people who walked in the footsteps of the Lord. The film provides the setting and background for the birth, childhood, bap-tism, teaching, and many miracles of the Messiah, culminating in the divine resurrec-tion. Directed by Oscar nominee Franco Zeffirelli and acclaimed by critics and reli-gious leaders worldwide, JESUS OF NAZ-ARETH tells the greatest of all stories with tremendous emotion and splendor.

Welcome To Our Church!
Welcome! On behalf of the Central Presbyterian Church congregation, I am pleased to welcome you to our website. Some years ago, the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. launched a denominational promotion campaign which encouraged folks to "Stop In and Find Out". This website provides one means of doing so. It is our hope and prayer that the information available here will provide an introduction to Central's ministries, and perhaps stimulate you to join us for our Sunday morning worship celebration. We are a growing church family committed to inclusiveness and diversity, driven by God's grace, and motivated by our love of and devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. So please do "stop in and find out" that we are a church reaching up, reaching out, reaching you.
