Clothing closet

The church collects clothing year-round and opens the closet on the 2nd Saturday of each month to coincide with the Need A Lunch. 

Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank

The church is a network partner of the Foodbank; we can provide a wide range of food items for those who receive groceries at our Need A Lunch and the Door Ministry. We are also part of the Agency Direct Pickup Program (ADP) through the Foodbank. ADP is a food rescue program in which the Foodbank pairs a network partner to pick up donations directly from a Foodbank donor. We have a weekly pickup with a local grocery store where we receive produce, frozen meat, and bakery items.

Once a month a community healthcare worker comes to the Door Ministry to meet with residents about their prescriptions and eligibility to receive their prescriptions free through Beacon Pharmacy. They also bring different over-the-counter medications and personal care items to give to those who come into the Door Ministry.

The Goodwill industries of greater cleveland and east central ohio

Goodwill Industries provides an employment specialist once a month at our Door Ministry for those who are searching for employment. They also provide children’s books through their BookWorks program. We can offer these books free to families who come to the Door Ministry.

Habitat for humanity –

We are granted vouchers annually to provide residents in need of furniture and/or household items. Individuals must live in the Massillon City Limits and complete an application.

Stark area regional

transit authority (sarta)

SARTA has a yearly matching grant program through the FTA. We have applied for and have received these funds when they have been available. The grants have averaged $1,000. We provide the other $1,000 match. We primarily purchase Fixed Rate 10-Ride Tickets to distribute at the Door Ministry.

The church provides money annually in support of local agencies that align with the church’s Outreach programs. In 2026, these missions are designated for support. 

Central Presbyterian Church participates in three annual special offerings of Presbyterian Church USA.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Supporting ministries of compassion through causes addressing hunger, disaster, poverty, climate change, and immigration/migration and refugees.

World Communion

Cultivating reconciliation by supporting racial and gender justice, peacemaking efforts, global witness and nurturing ecumenical and interfaith relations.

Christmas Joy Offering

Supporting causes and ministries that serve God’s children, including youth and young adults, leadership development for people of color, and servants of the church in need.

We extend to all people the love and hospitality exemplified by our Savior Jesus Christ.

The church recognizes the need to step out into the community and interact with them. We are active participants in these annual community events.

Fun Fest – Massillon’s Summer Party

The church staffs a booth with 15 – 20 volunteers in the Annual Massillon Museum’s Fun Fest held on a Saturday in August from 10 am to 2 pm on Duncan Plaza in Downtown Massillon. We have an interactive booth that features free snow cones and an opportunity for children to participate in a game for small prizes.

Winter Wonderland

We partner with the Massillon Library to kick off the Christmas season by participating in a fun-filled afternoon on the Saturday before Thanksgiving before the Massillon Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting. The church hosted the following activities with over 30 volunteers.

Community Candlelight Walk

Since 2001, the church has been participating with the Community Candlelight Walk that is usually held the first Sunday evening in December. We open our sanctuary where we welcome the community to listen to a revolving music program that includes our bell choir, and chancel choir along with some special performances. Each person leaves with a little momentum from the church.

Salvation Army Christmas Toy Shop

The church participates in the annual Salvation Army Toy Shop. Members purchase gifts specified by the Salvation Army. We also provide a number of volunteers to assist parents in selecting gifts for their children.
